South Florida highlights tech with these key events

2 min read April 2023 — In 2021, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez made waves with his now-famous tweet, “How can I help?” in response to a Twitter user’s suggestion that Miami become a tech hub. It appears he was onto something. From Miami to Palm Beach, South Florida is becoming one of the fastest-growing tech hubs in the country.

In the past few years, the number of technology companies and startups in the region has gained ground, attracted by business-friendly policies, leading universities like University of Miami that are helping to provide a robust labor pipeline and an evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem, not to mention the nice weather.

Speaking to Yahoo Finance in April 2022, eMerge Americas CEO Felice Gorodo, called the evolution “a renaissance at all levels, but especially in terms of technology.” He added: “We’re No. 1 in tech job growth in the nation, we’re No. 1 in tech job migration, and we’re No. 1 in the Southeast U.S. in terms of venture capital dollars invested.”

Many cities across South Florida have been named up-and-coming tech hubs and the number of tech companies continue to rise as more startups call the region home. This growth is also reflected in the tech events that are being hosted across the tri-county area. Here are some of the top events to keep an eye on.
