MSP leadership summit to showcase resilience, future workforce

2 min read April 2023 – Investments in workforce, development, healthcare, housing and higher education will be central themes at the official Invest: Minneapolis-St. Paul 2022-2023 Launch Conference. The event, which will take place on June 1 from 8AM – 11:00 AM at the W Minneapolis – The Foshay, will celebrate the official release of Capital Analytics’ second edition of Invest: Minneapolis-St. Paul.

During the launch of Invest: Minneapolis 2022-2023, local industry and community leaders will come together to discuss the region’s business conditions and how they are leveraging its inherent economic strengths to ensure long-term prosperity for residents and businesses. The event will feature three panel discussions that will center on value-based banking, Minnesota’s future workforce and planning and development to support economic growth.

Check-in at the conference will begin at 8AM with a breakfast networking hour. The opening remarks will begin at 9 AM, followed by an opening keynote speech from City of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. This will be succeeded by three robust panel discussions and a closing keynote speech by City of Saint Paul Mayor Melvin Carter to round out the event.

The first panel, ‘Minnesota Money: How values-based banking can withstand economic headwinds and what that looks like in today’s environment,’ will feature Dan Stoltz, president & CEO of Spire Credit Union, Bryan Toft, chief revenue officer at Sunrise Banks and First Independence Bank SVP & Twin Cities Regional Market President Damon Jenkins. The panel will be presented by Christine Schmidt, managing director of Trust Point Family Office and Jamie Woell, office managing partner – Minneapolis at RSM US LLP will moderate the discussion.

The second panel, ‘A Midwest Work Ethic: Creating a qualified workforce for the future in a changing Minnesota,’ will include Sandy Kiddoo, president of Northland Community & Technical College, Cristo Rey Jesuit School President Jason Morrison and Lori Kloos, president of St. Cloud Technical & Community College. The panel will be moderated by Jen Swanson, founder & CEO of Tuckpoint Advisory Group.

The final panel, ‘Sky’s the limit: The changing considerations around development and how that impacts the state’s economic development,’ will feature Patrick Seeb, executive director of Destination Medical Center, HGA Executive Officer and Design Principal Tim Carl, Doran Companies CEO & Principal Anne Behrendt and Steve Cramer, president & CEO of Minneapolis Downtown Council. The panel will be moderated by Jennifer Christiaansen, managing director & principal at Perkins&Will and presented by Bloomington City Manager Jamie Verburgge.
