2 min read June 2022 — Charlotte continues to be an exciting market to watch, as businesses set up shop and create a diverse pool of jobs in the region. To highlight the opportunities in the regional economy, media platform Capital Analytics has published Invest: Charlotte 2022, the third edition of the annual business intelligence book. The official launch of the report will take place on July 21, 2022 inside the Belk Theater at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

The launch event will consist of a brief introduction by Capital Analytics’ CEO Abby Melone, a keynote speech from one of Charlotte’s top public leaders and will be followed by three robust panel discussions.

“With strong capital investment and sustained job growth in the Southeast, the Charlotte market continues to be a major player among our annual economic reviews. The Queen City has been a key driver of the regional economy as more businesses expand to the area to further their growth. Capital Analytics acknowledges the importance of delivering in-depth business intelligence as business leaders in Charlotte plan for the future,” said Abby Melone, president and CEO of Capital Analytics.

Charlotte’s reputation as a major banking hub and its highly educated workforce has made the city an attractive place to live and do business. While the housing market has boomed across the United States, Charlotte is relatively affordable compared to major metropolitan areas and offers great natural scenery to accompany its vibrant Downtown. Another year removed from the pandemic, the story of Charlotte’s high growth across industries is the focal point of Invest: Charlotte 2022. The report dives deep into the top economic sectors in the Charlotte metro area, featuring exclusive insights from industry leaders, sector insiders, elected officials and heads of important institutions. It analyzes the leading challenges facing the market while uncovering emerging opportunities for investors, entrepreneurs and innovators.

The launch event will provide further insights, with regional business and political leaders participating in important panel discussions. The first panel, “Ingenuity and Preparation: The key to staying ahead is anticipating change,” will focus on strategies for companies and organizations to adapt to changes in effective ways. It will be moderated by Bart Walker, co-chair of the healthcare and life sciences industry team at McGuireWoods, and features Flagship Healthcare Properties President and CEO Brannen Edge and Scott Bullard, president of Pfeiffer University, as the panelists.

The second panel, “Real Estate & Construction: How are infrastructure priorities aligned with development needs and what challenges lie ahead,” will be moderated by Walter Fisher, Charlotte office managing partner at Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders, LLP. The panel will feature Keith Poettker, chairman and CEO of Poettker Construction, Timothy O’Brien, studio manager of LaBella Architecture, and Crescent Communities CEO Brian Natwick.

The third panel, “Best Laid Plans: Striking the balance between long-term strategies and adaptability,” will feature Irene Vogelsong, associate principal and practice leader for North Carolina at Perkins&Will, City of Rock Hill Director of Economic and Urban Development Jennifer Wilford and Catapult CEO Cheryl Richards. The panel will be moderated by Judy Wishnek, vice president and Charlotte commercial market executive at Truliant Federal Credit Union.

City of Charlotte Economic Development Director Tracy Dodson will be the featured keynote speaker. Hundreds of high-level guests and officials from Charlotte’s key industries and economic institutions will be in attendance for the event.
