Invest: San Antonio leadership summit to highlight economic growth and investment

2 min read April 2023 — Investments in infrastructure, development, healthcare and higher education will be central themes at the official Invest: San Antonio 2022-2023 Launch Conference. The event, which will take place on May 17 from 8AM – 11:30 AM at the Estancia del Norte – Tapestry Collection by Hilton Hotel, will celebrate the official release of Capital Analytics’ second edition of Invest: San Antonio.

During the launch of Invest: San Antonio 2022-2023, local industry and community leaders will come together to discuss the region’s business climate and how they are leveraging its inherent economic strengths to ensure long-term prosperity for all. The event will feature three panel discussions that will center on economic development, the local market’s healthcare and higher education ecosystem, and the ever changing real estate landscape.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the release of our second edition of Invest: San Antonio, this time live and in person, to showcase the leaders adding to the region’s long-standing reputation for community and collaboration,” Capital Analytics’ President and CEO Abby Melone said. “Few companies deliver the in-depth business analysis we do for the markets we cover, including San Antonio. Check-in at the conference will begin at 8 AM with a breakfast networking hour. The opening remarks will begin at 9 AM, followed by an opening keynote speech. This will be succeeded by three robust panel discussions.

The first panel, ‘The South Central Ecosystem: Economic development, infrastructure growth and Greater San Antonio’s capacity for more in today’s economy’, will feature Jeff Sinnott, president and CEO of Vantage Bank; Jason Giulietti, president and CEO of the Greater San Marcos Partnership; Jesus Saenz, director of airports for the San Antonio Airport System; and Sarah Carabias Rush, chief economic development officer for greater:SATX. The panel will be moderated by Rebecca Viagran, CEO and president of the South Texas Business Partnership, and presented by Jennifer Browning Shemwell, CEO of Phyllis Browning Co.

The second panel, ‘Twin Pillars: How healthcare and higher ed are driving innovation and economic diversity across Greater San Antonio’, will include Joe Fisher, Hallmark University president and CEO; Martin Landon, CEO of BioBridge Global; Tarra Washington, CEO of Kindred Hospital San Antonio Medical Center; and Robert Garza, president of Palo Alto College. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Shreekanth Mandayam, vice president for research at Texas State University.

The final panel, ‘Building Blocks: Navigating development and demand in San Antonio’s changing landscape for real estate’, will feature Ken Fuller, president of Joeris General Contractors; Thad Rutherford, president and CEO of SouthStar Communities; Leo Gomez president and CEO of Brooks; and Pedro Alanis, executive director of the San Antonio Housing Trust Foundation Inc. The panel will be moderated by Rahul Patel, founder and managing partner of Patel Gaines LLC.
