Minneapolis conference2 min read  January 2022Minneapolis-St. Paul is poised for economic growth as it continues to prove itself as one of the most resilient and innovative markets for businesses both big and small. The near-term horizon and the region’s long-term strategies to ensure success will be the focal points of the official Invest: Minneapolis-St. Paul 2022 Launch Conference on Thursday, Feb. 17, hosted by media platform Capital Analytics.

The event, via Zoom webinar and starting at 11 a.m., will feature an opening keynote speech by Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove, while prominent business leaders will drive two robust panel discussions.

“We are so excited to release our inaugural edition of Invest: Minneapolis-St. Paul, a fascinating and innovative market that we’ve learned so much about. While the Twin Cities need no introduction, we’re excited to use our accessible and in-depth business intelligence to help tell the story of a robust, resilient and responsive market that rises to meet any challenge it faces,” said Capital Analytics President and CEO Abby Melone, who will present the conference’s opening speech.

Invest: Minneapolis-St. Paul 2022 provides a comprehensive view of the region’s economic potential and the challenges accompanying that potential from the perspective of approximately 200 local leaders and elected officials.

This year’s report focuses on the region’s key industries, including healthcare, finance, logistics, technology, manufacturing and tourism, while considering the impact of and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the pandemic, Minneapolis-St. Paul has weathered economic downturns before and has come out stronger each time, due in part to hosting the headquarters of a number of Minnesota’s 18 Fortune 500 companies that buoy industries across the state and create the bulwark to withstand even a global pandemic.

The first panel of the conference, “The North Star: Minnesota’s rising status as tech and innovation hub,” will explore the dynamics behind Minneapolis-St. Paul’s status as a hub of innovation and the technologies being developed across the metro and their global impact. RSM’s Office Managing Partner Jamie Woell will moderate the panel discussion, which features speakers Adam Elliott, CEO of cybersecurity firm IDinsight, and Ron Konezny, CEO of Digi International, with another panelist to be announced.

The second panel, “Health is Wealth: Healthcare’s critical role in creating economic growth and equity,” will look at what the future holds for today’s unprecedented healthcare landscape. Moderated by Kim Norton, the mayor of Rochester, panelists will include GreaterMSP President and CEO Peter Frosch, alongside Patrick Seeb, executive director of Destination Medical Center, and Angelia Millender, president of Century College.

To close out the event, Tim Welsh, Vice Chair for U.S. Bank is expected to provide the closing keynote address.

More than 500 Twin Cities business leaders are expected to attend the digital conference. Click here to register.
