2 min read April 2023 — With less than three weeks until showtime, the street circuit for Miami’s Formula 1 Grand Prix found itself under water as record rainfall pummeled South Florida. While it may have put a pause on preparations, all systems appear to be intact and on schedule for the upcoming massive three day event.

Miami is ready to do it again, as last year’s event turned out to be a significant success and economic boom for the city. According to a report by Applied Analysis, the 2022 Formula 1 Grand Prix brought nearly $350 million dollars into the area. Over the course of the weekend, the Miami International Autodrome, at which Hard Rock Stadium sits in the heart of, saw 243,000 visitors and tourists spend $150 million during race week. Those who attended the 2022 Grand Prix were given preliminary access to tickets for this year’s race.

This year, festivities begin at noon on May 5 with a track tour, lane walk, hot laps and a car presentation. The first practice session begins at 2:30pm, and after a press conference and more tours and laps, the second practice session, beginning at 6:00pm, closes out the day on Friday.

Saturday features an additional practice session at 12:30pm and the qualifying round, which begins at 4:3pm. The main race will take place on Sunday at 3:30pm.

For attendees, the 2023 Formula 1 Grand Prix offers eight grandstands for seating surrounding the track. The grandstand at the Start/Finish Line and the Turn 1 Grandstand have optimum views of the race. For those looking for the most action, viewers can see three turns along the busiest stretch from the Turn 18 Grandstand.

This year, organizers also brought a few new options for seating. Between turns 10 and 11 along the south straight, there will be a Family Grandstand offering a more kid-friendly environment for those with children. Also added to the mix is a three-day general admission Campus Pass, which allows guests to watch the race from several track-side viewing areas.

There are also several events surrounding the actual races for enthusiasts. For those wanting to join the fun without breaking the bank can check out Racing Fan Fest at the Wynwood Marketplace. Beginning Thursday, May 4, the free four-day event offers entertainment, racing simulators, a display of previously raced cars and plenty of food and drinks. For more of the nightlife vibe, visitors can head to The Fontainebleau for Beachside Music Experience. The three day event will feature performances to enjoy outdoors by the pool.

Music icons the Jonas Brothers are also slated to join in on the Grand Prix festivities. They will perform on Friday, May 5 at Hard Rock Live at Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood. The show will begin at 8:00pm, and doors open at 7:00pm. On Saturday, Diplo, Claptone and more take the stage at Toe Jam Backlot beginning at 8:30pm.
