The Nutcracker, at the Cincinnati Ballet 

Speaking of Music Hall, the National Historic Landmark will be hosting renditions of the famous holiday tale, The Nutcracker, brought on by the Cincinnati Ballet. Tchaikovsky’s beloved musical will be accompanied by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, with tickets available here and starting as affordable as $35, families, friends, music and ballet lovers are welcomed to join in the adventure to the land of sweets, with the journey running from Dec. 15-24 and featuring dozens of young performers ready to put on the premier holiday show.

The Al Neyer Winter Market at Washington Park

It’s the gift-giving season, and the Holiday Market at Washington Park is a great place to start! Featuring local artisans and crafters of all sorts with one-of-a-kind gifts, the Winter Market at Washington Park is the perfect place to find a unique gift for the holidays. While the vendor lineup may vary from day-to-day, browsing is free, though with all that’s on offer, it may be wise to set aside a holiday allowance for when you find that perfect gift. While the Winter Market began at the end of November, it will continue to run up until Sunday, Dec. 18.

A Celestial Holiday at the Krohn Conservatory

Transforming into a winter wonderland, Krohn Conservatory will be decorated with twinkling lights and feature a model city exhibition, with trains chugging past familiar Cincinnati sites, including the newest addition to Krohn’s display, Music Hall. With adult tickets on sale for only $10, children aged 5-17 years old only $7 and children 4 years old and under free, Krohn offers fun for the whole family, with the exhibition open until Jan. 8, from 10am-8pm.

The PNC Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo

For those who might prefer a more interactive show, the Cincinnati Zoo is bringing the PNC Festival of Lights, running until Jan. 8, where visitors can view their favorite zoo animals (kept warm in heated indoor buildings!) while bringing the magic of Christmas to life with over 4 million LED lights. Take a detour to the North Pole on the North Polar Express train ride, and enjoy a show on the Zoo’s Swan Lake while enjoying s’mores, roasted nuts and other holiday treats. With hours from Sunday to Thursday running from 10am-9pm, and Friday to Saturday from 10am-10pm, tickets are available for a variety of different zoo exhibits and offerings.

Cincinnati’s Annual Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival

Running only from Dec. 31 to Jan 1, the 83rd Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival brings together medieval pageantry, an orchestra and choir, beautiful lighting and holiday spirit to all in one of Cincinnati’s most beloved traditions. Hosted by the Cincinnati Cathedral, with tickets and a waitlist available here, the festival has welcomed family and friends from across Ohio since its inception in 1939, and has continued to create lasting memories ever since.
